Sun-sensitive skin and how to stop prickly heat rash
Share
Spring is definitely in the air and warmer weather means spending more time outdoors, walking, playing sport or taking the kids to the park. When the sun is shining, it makes everything seem better and brighter. We spend time in pub gardens and coffee shops, tending the garden and enjoying alfresco dining and, of course, the evenings are longer and lighter.
As the core summer months approach, many of us head overseas for our annual holiday, where long, hot sunny days are almost guaranteed and we enjoy spending time on the beach and swimming in the sea.
However, for so many people, sunny weekends at home or a week in a European hotspot, can be completely ruined by prickly heat rash.
This irritating condition is caused by the skin's reaction to high temperatures. Hot and humid weather can cause excessive sweating, sweat ducts get blocked, trapping the sweat beneath the skin, and this in turn causes irritation, redness and small blisters, commonly referred to as prickly heat. Once the rash erupts, it's very difficult to get rid of it, so prevention is definitely better than cure.
Wearing SPF when the sun emerges is extremely important, whether at home or abroad. Sunburn is not just painful and uncomfortable, it's also very dangerous. One incidence of sunburn can significantly increase the risk of skin cancer and the more times you get burnt, the higher the risk.
However, for some people, the application of sun protection on sensitive skin that's prone to prickly heat just further aggravates it and makes the rash even worse. The answer is NOT to skip the sun protection, the answer is TechniSun!
Many High Street sunscreen brands use oils and emulsifiers to encapsulate UV filters and these are often greasy and difficult to rub in. This further irritates the skin, blocks pores and will increase the risk of heat rash. Other commonly used ingredients, such as parabens, preservatives, artificial colour, lanolin and talc, will also exacerbate the problem.
TechniSun's formula is quite unique; it is free from all of these ingredients as the UV filters are encapsulated in an ethanol-based spray that transfers the UV filter onto the skin and then evaporates, leaving no sticky residue or white cast. Protection is second-to-none - long lasting, high grade UVA and UVB and very water-resistant.
It's been developed specifically for sensitive skin and is also free from oxybenzone, octinoxate and homosalate, all of which are harmful to our eco-system and coral reefs.
If you're looking for a cruelty-free, vegan sun protection that's super easy to apply and offers first class protection, try TechniSun. The ultra-mist formula is very resistant to water and perspiration and the aerosol is CFC-free, another thumbs up for the environment.
