Sun-sensitive skin and how to stop prickly heat rash

Spring is definitely in the air and warmer weather means spending more time outdoors, walking, playing sport or taking the kids to the park.  When the sun is shining, it makes everything seem better and brighter. We spend time in pub gardens and coffee shops, tending the garden and enjoying alfresco dining and, of course, the evenings are longer and lighter.

This irritating condition is caused by the skin's reaction to high temperatures. Hot and humid weather can cause excessive sweating, sweat ducts get blocked, trapping the sweat beneath the skin, and this in turn causes irritation, redness and small blisters, commonly referred to as prickly heat.  Once the rash erupts, it's very difficult to get rid of it, so prevention is definitely better than cure.

Wearing SPF when the sun emerges is extremely important, whether at home or abroad. Sunburn is not just painful and uncomfortable, it's also very dangerous.  One incidence of sunburn can significantly increase the risk of skin cancer and the more times you get burnt, the higher the risk.
